Dear Reader,

HERE'S MY PHILOSOPHY ON THE POWER OF LIVING YOUR DREAM

All of us have dreams and aspirations, ranging from owning a large house, becoming President of a Fortune 500 company, finding our soul mate, becoming a billionaire, being the world’s greatest tennis player or being a box office movie star to writing a book, getting a college scholarship, climbing Mt. Everest, appearing as a contestant on “Jeopardy”, finding a cure for a life threatening disease or eliminating world poverty.  When we first have the dream, attainment seems far away.  In many cases, our first reaction is that our dream can not be realized unless there is divine intervention or luck.

Waiting for the heavens to open, a genie to appear and grant your wish or buying the winning lottery ticket is generally nor a sure-fire way to make your dream come true unless you enjoy dreaming more than doing.

The best way to make your dream come true is to live your dream by believing in the possibility and adopting an attitude that you are already there.   See your every day self building the house, winning the next tennis tournament, increasing your bank account and stock portfolio, taking the test to be on the quiz show or joining a organization involved in reducing world poverty.  With your attitude comes intention – the first step of doing and completing any task necessary on your path . . . step by step until the dream becomes reality.

Recognize that living your dream each and every day is a test of your inner being against the forces that would have you abandon your quest.

It is like a permanent game of Simple Simon, in which you must be ready to take the one step forward, hop on one foot, crawl, take 1 baby step backward or 3 giant steps forward when the Universe presents the opportunity, i.e. “Simon Says”, and avoid the negative energies that attempt to have you move at an inopportune time.

Do not be alarmed if you have bumps, setbacks and failures, for this permanent life game has 2 rules.

Rule #1:  You can quit at any time and never realize your dream.

Rule #2:  You can fail an unlimited amount of times and are still in the game, because the Universe is always willing to give you another chance.

The King of Salem in The Alchemist, explains this second rule to the shepherd boy about to give up his dream as follows:

“It’s a force that appears to be negative, but actually shows you how to realize your destiny.  It prepares your spirit and your will, because there is one great truth on this planet; whoever you are, or wherever it is that you do, when you really want something, it’s because that desire originated in the soul of the universe.  It’s your mission on earth.

 .   .   .   .   .   .   .   .    .

And, when you want something, the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”

If your desire is to be a billionaire through investments, you can learn to invest like Warren Buffett, the second richest person in the United States by reading Robert Miles Warren Buffett Wealth and other books and articles that will increase your investment awareness.  You can also carry a fake billion dollar bill in your wallet, methodically invest in a value or growth stock and when you see a penny on the ground and pick it up, and visualize being one step closer toward your billion dollars.

If you wish to be a CEO of a Fortune 500 Company, study Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft and richest person in the United States, Jack Welch, former CEO of GE or Donald Trump.   You might also apply to business school, take a correspondence course on management, apply to be on “The Apprentice” or go to work for a Fortune 500 company at an entry level position.  Be bold and write to CEO whom you wish to model.

If you desire is to eliminate poverty or suffering in the world, volunteer with an organization, study Mother Theresa or Florence Nightingale or put inspirational posters and affirmations next to your bed.

If you are searching for your soul mate, do what I did by writing a love letter to your would-be life partner with the date for sharing it.  Buy gifts for that person, organize your space for their presence or start a scrapbook reflecting your joint life style and places you will visit.  Go to places where that soul mate might appear.  Tell your friends or family who you are searching for.  Or read Debbie Allen’s book, Confessions of Shameless Dating for tips on meeting and attracting new people in your life.

Each day, whatever your desire, do one positive thing toward your goal and acknowledge yourself as being one step closer to fulfillment.
